The Hidden Parlor is experienced more than it is explained.
It is a social club where American Mahjong, conversation, and time spent in good company naturally come together.
Some arrive knowing the game well. Others arrive simply curious.
Both find their place here.
A Typical Visit
A visit to The Hidden Parlor might begin with a reserved table and familiar faces already gathered.
Tiles are set. Coffee is poured. Conversation carries easily between hands.
Along one wall, a row of lockers, reserved for East members and marked in gold with their names, offers a quiet sense of arrival.
Some games are planned. Others come together with ease as members arrive.
Not every visit revolves around play.
Some stop in between commitments. Some stay for hours. Some come simply to be in the room.
There is no single way to spend time at The Hidden Parlor.
Beyond the Table
American Mahjong sits at the heart of The Hidden Parlor, bringing members together and shaping the feel of the room.
Membership is annual, designed to foster a sense of community and belonging. Members arrive with varying levels of experience and return for the game, the atmosphere, and the company. American Mahjong is the foundation, but beyond the tiles, it is the comfort of having a place that is always there.
The Hidden Parlor is a clubhouse first, open to visitors and made for its members. At times, the experience may extend beyond the table to include member retreats at thoughtfully selected accommodations, visitor evenings, floral design nights, and select collaborations. Groups may also reserve tables together for private American Mahjong play and tournaments, arranged with care for the club and its community.
Just as meaningful are the moments in between, conversations after the final tile and a second cup of coffee that quietly turns into an hour.
If You’ve Never Played American Mahjong
No prior experience is needed.
Many members begin with little familiarity with the game. Instruction is available, and the pace of learning is part of the enjoyment.
It is not uncommon to arrive curious and leave looking forward to returning.
Why Membership
You don’t need to be a member to enjoy The Hidden Parlor. Reserve a table for an afternoon of open play, a league, or a lesson.
Membership is for those who want more than a visit. It keeps the room comfortable and familiar, ensures a table is waiting, and makes The Hidden Parlor a place of your own.
Visitors are warmly welcome, by reservation.

Memberships renew annually on the anniversary of your purchase unless otherwise noted.
Our Home
The Hidden Parlor is located at 69 Park Street in downtown Andover, Massachusetts.
The Hidden Parlor is now open, with open play, leagues, lessons, and special gatherings throughout the year.
Beyond the clubhouse, members may occasionally be invited to small gatherings and collaborations within the community.
Some places are discovered. Others are returned to.
Our Founding General Manager
Heather Forrest Gagnon is a hospitality and events professional with more than a decade of experience leading luxury events, private club operations, and member-focused initiatives throughout New England. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Business Management from Southern New Hampshire University. As Founding General Manager, Heather brings her expertise in operations and member experience to help shape The Hidden Parlor community, with a focus on strong teams, exceptional guest experiences, and a culture of connection and elevated service.
